Chic Vintage Bride – Pola Negri

May 30, 2012

As a winter bride myself (and a pasty pom) I adore winter wedding fashion –  sleevesboleros, coats, there’s just something so stylish about them all! Not to mention they create such fabulous silhouettes. My Chic Vintage Bride today wore the most wonderful winter bridal outfit, just perfect for the current cold snap here at the moment…..

and so befitting a Hollywood starlet! Oh and how beautiful is her hair?

Following love affairs with legends such as Charlie Chaplin, Rod La Rocque, and Rudolph Valentino, silent picture femme fatale Pola Negri married Georgian prince Serge Mdivani on May 14, 1927  in the little hamlet of Seraincourt, Normandy wearing the most incredibly sumptuous, (I only wish it was faux) fur trimmed, full length cloak.

What a collar! I so wish I could find an image of the dress beneath the coat though…. I fancy it could be something really special from the glimpse of the embroidered scalloping at the hem.
