Chic Vintage Bride – Marion Stein

April 4, 2012

I do love a Royal Wedding! Especially old Royal Weddings and today’s Chic Vintage Bride dates back to 1949….

1949 Wedding of Miss Marion Stein and Earl Harewood

Attended by the King, Queen and Princess Mary Countess of Harewood Marion Stein (I was inspired by last week’s groom!) married George Lascelles, 7th Earl of Harewood on 29 September 1949 in a suitably lavish ceremony at St. Mark’s Church, South Audley Street followed by a reception at St. James’s Palace.

The Countess’s wedding dress was typical of the 1940s with its heart neckline, long sleeves and fitted waist. Made of white brocade with a silver spray pattern, it was a decadent gown offset perfectly by a beautiful veil with an embroidered trim.

And her dress and wedding, received almost as much interest from the press as today’s Royal Weddings!
