Chic Vintage Bride – 1940s Bride

August 22, 2012

I love my weekly Chic Vintage Bride posts - a glimpse of the life, loves and fashion of a bygone era. As much as I love the stories that emerge from behind the images, I prefer the intrigue of unnamed faces and the opportunity it gives me to write my own story for them. Today’s Chic Vintage Bride married in Jerusalem (I’d love to know where because the architecture looks incredible), Israel on June 10th 1942…..

1942 Bride

Despite the war, it seems such a glamorous wedding  – the bride wearing an elegantly cut long sleeved gown with a Cala Lily bouquet, the groom in his dashing uniform, bridesmaids in juliet cap veils and groomsmen in top hat and tails…..

I like to imagine it as the happy ending of a romance like The English Patient.

What story would you write today’s Chic Vintage Bride?

The Cala Lily bouquet is just perfect for this bride.

I agree Luna – and how opulent are those bridesmaids bouquets??
