‘The Laneway Shoot’ by Gwendolynne
If you have been following Chic Vintage Brides for a while then you will know just what to expect from Gwendolynne, one of Australia’s leading bridal designers (and favourite of mine – you can see more of her work on CVB here, here and you absolutely must see this!) If you’re new to the blog however, welcome, you are in for quite the treat!
Gwendolynne Burkin is a fashion purist; her unique designs and collections epitomise an old-world glamour that is utterly timeless, whilst always with an edge that will appeal to the modern bride. Drawing inspiration from the decadent days of the Art Nouveau, Art Deco and Aesthetic Movement her designs are always instantly recognisable and absolutely breathtaking. Using some of the most exquisite fabrics, in opulent shades of champagne, pearl and oyster, and embellished with the most beautiful beading; Gwendolynne creates the most romantic wedding dresses that not only look stunning, you just know would feel amazing as well!
The Laneway Shoot not only showcases her latest designs, but also her impressive styling and photography…..
Isn’t the ‘Frances’ design just lovely? That beading and open back would certainly wow your guests as you walk down the aisle! The embellishment in geometric shapes is very art deco, whilst the pleated skirt adds a more modern vibe. I do so love how Gwendolynne avoids the latest trends, choosing instead to always remain true to her own unique sense of style.
The ‘Willow’ is so perfectly ethereal, perfect for the bohemian or Edwardian inspired bride. You will find all of Gwendolynne’s gowns are cut to float and drape whilst her distinctive necklines – from boat necks, plunging backs and halter necks, embody the vintage inspired Gwendolynne style.
The Drew is a little more grecian goddess with its halter neck and soft draping.
And Lily is something of a showstopper with her dramatically embellished neckline. Gwendolynne’s relentless pursuit of perfection ensures her gowns appeal to any bride wanting to invest in a timelessly beautiful design.
I love the delicate flow of the Chantelle, complimenting and enhancing the natural silhouette. How gorgeous are those cape like sleeves?
My favourite though? The Josephine, just look at that satin!
Gwendolynne is constantly guided by her overriding principle of flattering the female form “I like women to feel they are individuals and beautiful, and that they are able to wear clothes that suit them and enhance their natural beauty.”
