Berry Beauty – Romantic Outdoor Wedding Inspiration in Blackberry & Dusky Plum

Autumn is my favourite time of year, and so as the leaves start to turn and fall here in New Zealand I couldn’t help but be inspired to use some rich seasonal berry-coloured hues in today’s inspiration board. Wanting to create a versatile palette though, one that would be just as lovely for a Spring (or Summer) wedding as it would Fall, I kept it pretty with some paler pinks and purples……

Berry Beauty - Elegant Colour Palette of Purples

This lovely bride and her mismatched maids captured by Sweetlife Photography formed the basis for this palette, I just love how that rich blackberry shade pops against the dusky and paler hues.

For full on romance think watercolour stationery, a bouquet of seasonal blooms for that on trend foraged feel; and a tablescape full of florals, coloured glass and splashes of plum. For an Autumn wedding layer lots of rich texture throughout your day to create a sense of opulence (and warmth) – aren’t those velvet bridal shoes just divine! A simple draped garland with cascading ribbons makes a lovely ceremony backdrop, for inside or out, as well as the perfect DIY project for saving a few pennies. And who could resist a blackberry cocktail?

To lighten for a Spring celebration simply use the darker tones in the palette more sparingly, and keep fabrics delicate such as lace or softly dyed linen for the table runner, and silk instead of velvet.

For your groom and his groomsmen you could go with a classic tux, but as I had a less formal garden wedding in mind I chose something a little more relaxed but just as dapper – a deep blue suit. Add bow ties and boutonnieres in contrasting berry to compliment your bridesmaids, or go with tweed for a fabulous Fall affair!
