Snippets, Whispers & Ribbons – Bridal Hair & Makeup

Hello lovelies! What a week. I don’t know about you but here it has been grey, wet and felt decidedly miserable (but every cloud has a silver lining) Of course today everything changes and the world appears a little brighter, even through the rain; for it is everyone’s favourite day of the week, nearly the start of the weekend and time for my weekly roundup! This week’s Snippets, Whispers & Ribbons is all about bridal hair and makeup, because your look doesn’t finish with finding the perfect dress. We all know how a trip to the hairdresser or lick of mascara and lippy can have magical transformational powers, in how we feel as much as how we look; and so your hair and makeup will be almost as important in creating your wedding day ‘look’ as your dress, veil and accessories (nope, no exaggeration). This week, I found 5 of the prettiest bridal hair & makeup looks to excite and inspire you….

Snippets, Whispers & Ribbons - Bridal Looks

1. If you don’t usually wear a lot of makeup, don’t choose your wedding day to start. How pretty is this barely there, natural look? That lipstick is just perfection and really compliments the brides beautiful skin…..

2. This retro bouffant updo is simply fab! Very 1960s, but with just a hint of modern with its on trend glimpse of a braid…..

…..and don’t forget the golden rule – eyes or lips! So if you’re going for a bold eye makeup look, keep your lips simple.

3. Ok, so this bridal look is actually from a honeymoon inspiration shoot by Jose Villa, but it is so seriously swoonworthy I just had to share it. A pop of bright coral lipstick brings this 1920s inspired look (with its finger waves) bang up to date. Have you ever seen anything so elegant…..

4. I love the splash of pretty fuschia for the lips – it just pulls out the pink roses in the flower crown and gives this bohemian bridal look a modern edge…..

5. Who says bridal makeup must be understated and natural, in fact your wedding day is the perfect day to be bold (especially if you’re wearing a veil – to ensure your makeup isn’t lost in those veiled photos) and show your personality. Try a favourite colour for your eyes…..

Whether doing your own bridal hair and makeup or turning to professional, just remember to practice, practice, practice! Yes even with professionals. In fact, it is even more important with a professional, especially someone who may not have done your hair or makeup before. I think Mr E might have run had I walked down the aisle looking how I did after my first makeup trial 🙂 Book in at least one trial with your chosen hair and makeup artist (ideally both at the same time) and don’t be afraid to speak up if there is anything you aren’t happy with. Right, I’m off to practice my winged eyeliner (still to be mastered after almost 20 years)

Have a fabulous weekend!
